ChatC is a discovery and conversation platform for AI-generated characters — used for companionship, structured learning, and creative work. Custom retrieval and grounded responses keep the experience trustworthy and persistent across sessions.
Overview
Generic AI chat surfaces feel cold and forgettable. ChatC makes the relationship between user and character the centerpiece — discoverable, customizable, and persistent.
The challenge
Maintaining character consistency across long sessions is hard. Hallucination can break immersion. Latency directly impacts perceived intimacy. And consumer expectations on response quality are higher than B2B because users have no domain to translate from.
Our approach
Per-character memory via vector store, hybrid retrieval (BM25 + semantic + reranker), answer-capsule formatting with source attribution where relevant, and an LLM-as-judge eval running continuously against a frozen test set per character archetype.
The result
Sub-2-second p95 latency, hallucination tightly bounded by per-character grounding, and a persistent-memory pattern that keeps characters consistent across sessions.
