Roles & permissions

Role-based access controlEveryone sees what they need. Duke follows the same rules.

Give each person a role with View, Edit or Full access per area. Start from ready-made roles for your business, preview the menu a role gets, and know that Duke never does more than the person asking.

Duke in Roles

Duke follows the same rules.

Duke has no permissions of his own. He works with the role of the person asking, and sets up roles and invitations for your approval, never giving more than you hold.

Who decides

  • Waits for your approvalHe prepares it and shows a one-line preview. Nothing changes until you approve.
  • Just answersReading needs no approval, and he sees only what the person asking may see.

Just answers

He sees what you see.

A trainer's Duke can't open invoices if the trainer can't, and every action is checked again before it runs.

How much did we collect in fees this month?
Duke · asked by a trainerYour role doesn't include invoices, so I can't see payments. A manager or the owner can check this for you.
Waits for your approval

Invitations by asking.

Name the person and the role. The invitation is emailed once you approve.

New roles, never bigger than yours.

Describe what a role may do. Duke can only include permissions you hold yourself.

Area by area

Choose a level, not a hundred boxes.

A role has one row per area, each set to No access, View, Edit or Full. Need finer control? Switch an area to Custom and pick single permissions. Preview the menu a role will see before you save it.

Your team

Invite by email, with a role.

Invite someone with a role and, if you like, a single branch. The link lasts seven days and you can share it on WhatsApp. A person can hold several roles, and deactivating someone keeps their history.

  • A role for the whole business or for one branch
  • Deactivate without losing who did what

With Duke: “Invite sam@example.com as a trainer” and he sends it once you approve.

Safe by design

Nobody hands out more than they hold.

Every business has a built-in Owner role with every permission. Nobody can grant a permission they don't hold themselves, and the last owner can't be removed. Duke works with the permissions of the person asking.

  • Checked on the server, not just hidden in the menu
  • The same rules for people, automations and Duke
