How do I start a SaaS business without writing code?
The short answer
Start with software that already works and put your brand on it. Either resell a hosted white-label platform, billed per client, or license the source code and host it yourself. Then pick an industry, set clients up quickly and charge a monthly fee. With DukeOS, agencies resell from $149 a month or take a source licence from $3,500.
Why not build it from scratch
A business platform with customers, bookings, invoicing, WhatsApp, AI and security takes years and a team to build, and you spend money long before the first client pays. Most successful small software companies today start by specialising: one industry, one region, and excellent setup and support, on top of a platform that already exists.
Two ways to start
Hosted white-label: the platform provider runs the software and you sell it under your brand, with your logo, domain and assistant name. You pay per live client and focus on sales and support. See DukeOS for agencies. Source licence: you get the code, host it on your own servers or cloud, change it for your clients and keep the whole relationship. See the DukeOS source licence.
- Hosted white-label: fastest start, no servers, billed per client (from $149 a month).
- Source licence: full code, a year of updates and support, 25 live clients ($3,500 the first year).
Pick a niche and a price
Choose an industry you know: gyms, clinics, salons, coaching institutes, real estate or shops. Learn their week, their WhatsApp habits and what they pay for today. Price per business per month and include setup. As an example only, 25 clients at $99 a month bring in $2,475 a month; you set your own prices.
Set clients up without code
In DukeOS, you describe each client's business to Duke and it sets up the apps, pages, pipeline and messages for approval, so a new client can be running in an afternoon. Duke on duty answers their customers on WhatsApp, which is often the feature clients pay for first.
Know the licence rules
Read what you are allowed to do. The DukeOS source licence lets you host and change the software for your own named clients under your brand. It is a licence to use the code, not ownership, and it does not allow reselling the code or running a public sign-up service. Hosted white-label has no such limits on whom you sell to.
