What Duke never does on his own

Duke is useful because he does real work, and safe because of a few rules he can't break. They're built into SmartDuke itself, not just into Duke's instructions.

He has no permissions of his own

• In the chat, he works as you: he sees and does only what your role allows.
• In AI agents and goals, he works as the person who owns the job.
• On duty, he works as the person who put him on duty, and only for the customer he's talking to.

Changes wait for a person

Anything that changes your data or sends a message becomes a proposal: Duke shows what approving will do, and nothing happens until the right person clicks Approve. Risky things such as refunds, deletes, payments, cancellations, permission changes, bulk messages, data exports and stock adjustments always need that confirmation.

The only things he does without asking each time

You switch these on in advance, and you can switch them off at any time:

1. Duke on duty, On its own: answering a customer who wrote first, saving their details, filling in the pages you chose and booking their own appointments. See Duke on duty.
2. Messages made entirely from your own templates, sent by an AI agent or goal you set up to do so, up to the limit per run you chose. Words Duke writes himself still wait. See AI agents.

Never, even on duty

• Money: payments, refunds, discounts, invoices, or prices outside your list.
• Cancelling or changing anything paid for.
• Deleting anything, exporting data, changing settings, roles, automations or agents.
• Messaging anyone who didn't write first, or sending bulk messages.
• Anything about a different customer than the one he's talking to.

Other promises

• Duke never touches your database directly: every change goes through the same checks as a person using the app.
• Instructions hidden in emails, WhatsApp messages or documents never change his rules.
• He never sees another business's data, and documents you can't see never reach him when you ask.
• In demo businesses, messages never leave the server.

Check what Duke did

• Duke's work shows what he did this week.
• Each customer's timeline highlights Duke's actions.
• The audit log records every change he made as Assistant, approved by the person who approved it, with the time and the before and after values. Filter By → The assistant (approved) to see only his changes.
